What This Talk Is About

We all have thoughts that arrive quickly, quietly, and often automatically.

Some make us pause.
Some make us doubt ourselves.
Some make us imagine the worst.
Some make us believe we are not enough.

In this live storytelling session, Catherine Gallacher guides you through the Forest of ANTs™ — a creative and practical way to recognise Automatic Negative Thoughts and understand how they influence confidence, stress, decisions, relationships, and everyday life.

Examples of ANTs We’ll Explore

Catastrophising — “What if everything goes wrong?”
Mind Reading — “They probably think I’m not good enough.”
Comparing — “Everyone else is doing better than me.”
Discounting the Positive — “That doesn’t really count.”
Overgeneralising — “This always happens to me.”
Self-Doubt — “I can’t do this.”

Who This Is For

This talk is for anyone over 18 years, who wants to understand their thinking patterns more clearly and respond to life with more awareness, calm, and confidence.

You do not need any previous knowledge of psychology.
You only need curiosity, openness, and a willingness to reflect.

What You’ll Take Away

By the end of the session, you will have a clearer understanding of:

How automatic thoughts show up in everyday life
Why some thought patterns feel so convincing
How to recognise unhelpful thinking before it takes over
How awareness can create choice
How small shifts in thinking can support emotional regulation and healthier responses
